Harem Pants…Now That’s A Tricky One

Every season has it’s own breakthrough, a piece which is so extremely hard to wear and…will easily make you look, well lets say rather odd. However, when managed, fashion world will be clapping and gazing. But it takes a climb to get there as  the extremely unflattering carrot leg shape makes even the skinniest leg unattractive, still, the pants were seen on almost every catwalk and every number 1 fashionista out there knows how to wear hers. Brains + Beauty will explain to you just how to pair your harem pants in a way which will flatter you and look bang on trend.

Number 1 tip, always wear high heels, these will balance out the shortness of the leg which the pants create. Also opt for a model with a moderately dropped crotch. We advise to keep crazy colors and patterns behind as the pant itself “shouts out”. For day wear black jersey harem pants with a pretty See By Chloe like ruffled top to balance out masculinity. Wear high heels to elongate your legs (we lovelovelove chunky strappy heels) and a sharp cut blazer for some structure in your outfit. Keep the look London cool with some black and gold stud cuffs or oversized cocktail ring

For night you can go slightly more crazy, we love the sequined Ralph Lauren version (seen below, right), Yves Saint Laurent + NET-A-PORTER.com sequined harem jumpsuit, the Marcus Lupfer for Armand Bassi One purple sequined harem (as seen in ASOS Magazine) and the metallic harem pants by Chloe (seen below, left). Pair these with cream loose fitted tops -the new Alexander Wang ‘just slept in’ tees are perfect! Or this seasons crop tops (as seen at Chloe S/S 09′). Show some skin on the top to prevent the “drowning” look, and finish the look with heels and accessories including bangles, oversized cocktail rings and belts. Keep your accesories simple and let the harem pants do the talking for you.

Lastly keep hair and make-up simple, the look itself is very powering…and if harem pants is not for you…you can always try the jumpsuit with dropped crotch or baggy shorts…or just let it pass by you and wait for something more ‘you’ to come along! Because if you don’t like what you’re wearing…it wont look good.
